Casing Gas and Associated Gas Recovery Compressor
Casing gas and associated gas recovery compressor. For associated gas recovery, tank vapor recovery, and wellhead pressure maintenance.
Using a compressor to boost pressure, casing gas is introduced into the production tubing, where the oil and gas mix and are transported for centralized processing. The specialized oilfield casing gas recovery compressor is a series of oil-free lubrication compressor units developed by our factory based on actual oilfield operations.
1. The compressor's automatic start and stop functions can be configured based on the inlet casing gas pressure;
2. The unit is equipped with a crude oil backflow prevention device to ensure safe compressor operation.
Product Features
Product Overview
During oilfield production, associated gases-such as casing gas, vented gas, crude oil stabilization gas, and tank headspace gas-have long been largely vented or flared. Currently, the industry commonly employs two methods for their recovery and utilization:
Pressurized commingled transport: Compressors boost the pressure of casing gas to inject it into oil pipelines, enabling the commingled transport of oil and gas to a centralized processing station for unified treatment.
Aggregated export: Gas from multiple dispersed sources within a block is collected via a pipeline network, compressed, and then fed into a nearby natural gas pipeline.
To address these applications, our company has developed a specialized compressor unit for recovering oilfield casing gas and vent gas. The unit features an oil-free lubrication design to prevent lubricant contamination of the gas stream and downstream pipeline networks, making it particularly suitable for oilfield associated gas recovery operations. The system comprises core components such as the compressor main unit, inlet filter, gas-liquid separator, crude oil backflow prevention device, automated control system, metering system, and explosion-proof motor. It can be configured as a skid-mounted, mobile, or truck-mounted unit based on site conditions, offering flexibility to meet the installation and relocation requirements of various well sites.
System Configuration
The functional units of this system work in coordination to ensure the safe, stable, and efficient compression and transport of casing gas:
|
Components |
Functional Description |
|
Compressor Air End |
Oil-free reciprocating design, performing the core task of gas compression. |
|
Air Intake Filter |
Captures particulate impurities carried in the gas, protecting the compressor's internal moving parts. |
|
Gas-Liquid Separator |
Separates free liquid entrained in the inlet gas to prevent the risk of liquid hammer. |
|
Crude Oil Backflow Prevention Device |
Effectively prevents high-pressure gas or crude oil from flowing back into the inlet pipeline and wellhead. |
|
Automated Control System |
Enables automatic monitoring, control, and interlocking protection of unit operating parameters. |
|
Metering System |
Accurately measures the flow rate of recovered gas, facilitating production volume statistics and profitability analysis. |
|
Explosion-proof electric motor |
Meets explosion-safety requirements for oil and gas facilities and provides power output. |
The unit features a compact structure and a rational layout of interfaces, meeting performance requirements while ensuring ease of transport and installation.
Key Features
Automatic Start/Stop
The control system automatically manages the unit's startup and shutdown based on fluctuations in the casing gas intake pressure. It automatically starts to boost pressure when the intake reaches the upper set limit and stops when it drops to the lower limit, thereby eliminating no-load energy losses and reducing the need for manual intervention.
Overpressure Protection
A pressure controller is installed at the compressor discharge outlet. If the discharge pressure exceeds the preset safety threshold, the system automatically triggers a protective shutdown, preventing risks associated with overpressure caused by downstream blockages or valve misoperation.
Intake Purification
Filters and gas-liquid separators are installed sequentially at the intake to provide dual-stage purification. This effectively removes solid particles and free liquids, ensuring clean gas enters the compressor cylinder and extending the service life of wear parts such as valve assemblies and piston rings.
Crude Oil Backflow Prevention
The unit features a built-in backflow prevention device. During shutdowns or abnormal operating conditions, it effectively prevents crude oil or high-pressure gas in the pipeline from flowing back into the compressor and wellhead, ensuring the safe operation of the entire system and upstream equipment.
Precise Metering
The unit is equipped with a digital target flow meter or an intelligent integrated flow meter for real-time, online metering of the recovered pipeline gas. Flow data is displayed clearly, facilitating on-site readings and subsequent economic analysis, while providing reliable data for gas volume management in the field.
Quick-Connect Interfaces
Both intake and discharge connections utilize high-pressure threaded hose couplings. On-site installation requires no welding or hot work, ensuring quick and reliable connections-making the unit particularly suitable for mobile or truck-mounted applications that require frequent relocation.
Installation Configurations and Application Scenarios
Based on the actual site conditions and operational methods at oilfield well stations, this unit offers three installation configurations:
|
Installation Method |
Applicable Scenarios |
|
Skid-mounted |
Suitable for fixed well stations or long-term, stable gas production sites; designed for long-term operation once installed, with simple foundation construction requirements. |
|
Mobile |
Requires periodic rotation of operations between different wellheads; can be relocated by vehicle towing. |
|
Truck-mounted |
The unit is mounted directly onto a truck chassis and features an independent power source; it offers superior mobility and is suitable for temporary operations such as pilot production and emergency recovery. |
