Product Features

Product Overview

Unlike traditional piston compressors, L-type diaphragm compressors achieve gas intake, compression, and discharge by varying the volume of the compression chamber through the reciprocating flexing of a metal diaphragm. The gas comes into contact only with gas-side components-such as the diaphragm, cylinder interior, and valves-and does not interact with lubricating oil.

The L-type configuration allows for a more compact equipment layout, facilitating the integration of the drive system, compression unit, and cooling system within limited installation spaces. This series can be customized based on gas properties, inlet and discharge pressures, flow rates, and specific operating conditions to meet application requirements across laboratory, industrial gas, petrochemical, energy, and specialty gas sectors.

Technical Advantages

Optimized Diaphragm Cavity Design

The novel diaphragm cavity profile enhances volumetric efficiency, minimizes the impact of clearance volume, and improves gas flow paths. Combined with an optimized valve structure, this design boosts stability and operational efficiency during the suction and discharge processes.

High-Efficiency Cooling System

The equipment can be configured with high-efficiency intercoolers and aftercoolers to rapidly dissipate heat generated during compression, ensuring stable operation at lower temperatures. Effective thermal management not only improves compression efficiency but also extends the service life of components such as lubricating oil, O-rings, and valve springs.

Reliable Diaphragm Protection

A diaphragm rupture alarm system monitors the operating status of the diaphragm. In the event of an anomaly, the system issues an immediate alert, enabling operators to take prompt action and reducing the risk of media leakage, oil-gas mixing, or equipment damage.

Energy-Efficient and Rational Overall Layout

While meeting process requirements for flow rate, pressure, and purity, the L-type diaphragm compressor achieves a compact, stable, and energy-efficient operational solution through the optimized configuration of compression stages, cooling methods, and the drive system.

Typical Application Areas

01/

Hydrogen Energy and New Energy

Suitable for hydrogen boosting, transport, hydrogen storage system filling, fuel cell testing, and as auxiliary equipment for hydrogen systems. Its oil-free compression capability minimizes the risk of oil contamination, meeting the stringent gas quality requirements of high-purity hydrogen systems.

02/

Industrial Gas Filling

Used for the boosting, cylinder filling, and tube-skid transport of oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, and gas mixtures. For high-value and high-purity gases, diaphragm compression technology minimizes medium loss and the risk of contamination.

03/

Petrochemical and Fine Chemical Industries

Suitable for the circulation, recovery, boosting, and transport of corrosive, toxic, or flammable/explosive process gases. Diaphragms, valve plates, and gas-contacting materials can be selected to match specific gas compositions and corrosivity levels.

04/

Scientific Research and Laboratories

Suitable for material research, gas analysis, semiconductor experiments, catalytic reactions, gas circulation, and high-pressure testing systems. The equipment operates smoothly and ensures high gas purity, making it ideal for integration with precision process units.

05/

Pharmaceutical, Food, and Electronics Industries

Suitable for processes requiring high gas purity, such as pharmaceutical gas transport, boosting of protective gases for food packaging, and the supply of high-purity gases for electronics manufacturing.

Case Study: Petroleum Refining Gas Recovery

A large-scale refining and chemical enterprise generates approximately 5,000 Nm³/h of hydrogen-rich tail gas from its continuous reforming unit, which is intended for hydrogen recovery via Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) after compression. The original piston compressor produced discharge gas with an oil content of about 5 ppm, causing frequent poisoning of the PSA molecular sieves; consequently, the hydrogen recovery rate dropped from 90% to below 70% after just eight months of operation, and the cost of downtime and replacement exceeded 2 million RMB.

After switching to a diaphragm compressor, the discharge oil content dropped to below 0.01 ppm, completely resolving the molecular sieve poisoning issue. The service life extended from 8 months to 26 months, and hydrogen purity remained stable at over 99.9%.

FAQs about L-Type Diaphragm Gas Compressors

Q1: How does an L-type diaphragm compressor work?

The operating process is as follows: The motor drives the crankshaft to rotate, causing the piston within the oil cylinder to move in a reciprocating linear motion via the connecting rod. This pushes the hydraulic oil, which in turn drives the diaphragm to oscillate. Controlled by the intake and discharge valves, each oscillation cycle of the diaphragm completes the processes of intake, compression, and discharge.

Q2: What is the primary difference between a diaphragm compressor and a piston compressor?

The core difference lies in the compression method. Piston compressors compress gas directly through the reciprocating motion of a piston within a cylinder, where lubricating oil-present between the piston rings and cylinder wall-comes into contact with the gas. In contrast, diaphragm compressors compress gas by using hydraulic oil to deform a metal diaphragm; the gas is completely isolated by the diaphragm and never contacts the lubricating oil throughout the process, resulting in extremely high gas purity and zero oil contamination.

Q3: Why are L-type diaphragm compressors widely used in chemical processing plants?

This is primarily because diaphragm compressors offer high compression ratios, excellent sealing capabilities, and ensure that the compressed gas remains free from contamination by lubricating oil or solid impurities. They are suitable for compressing high-purity gases, rare and precious gases, flammable and explosive gases, toxic and hazardous gases, and corrosive gases. Diaphragm compressors offer distinct advantages in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, where extremely high gas purity is required. While the two-stage configuration is the most common type, the structural design allows for L-shaped or V-shaped installation layouts.
